The Golden Spikes Toreros 11U capped off their weekend with a championship performance, defeating Natomas Dirtbags 11U by a score of 13–2 on Sunday to win the NCS Off The Wall Tournament. Fueled by a 19-hit outburst and strong pitching, the Toreros left no doubt as they secured the title.
The offense got rolling immediately in the first inning. Dominic A. singled to open the scoring, followed by an RBI single from Matt G., a two-run double by Yggy V., and a bases-loaded walk from Connor K. to put Golden Spikes ahead 5–0 right out of the gate.
The bats kept producing throughout the day. Dominic added a double in the fourth — one of his three hits — before the Toreros put the game away in the sixth with a five-run surge. Matt G. singled in two more, and defensive miscues by Natomas allowed three additional runs to cross, extending the lead beyond reach.
On the mound, Eli P. delivered a steady performance, striking out seven over five innings while giving up only two unearned runs. Maddux K. came in to finish the job, closing the final frame to seal the win.
At the plate, it was a complete team effort. Dominic, Colin S., and Andrew T. each collected three hits, while Chuck C., Matt G., and Yggy V. all drove in two runs apiece. Pete B. added two hits and swiped a pair of bases. In total, seven Toreros had multi-hit games.
Defensively, Golden Spikes stayed sharp, turning two double plays and avoiding errors to back their pitchers.
For Natomas, Wyatt P., Eric M., Damian J., Jimmy R., and Tyler T. recorded hits, while Travis G. and Damian J. drove in their two runs. But the Dirtbags couldn’t contain the Toreros’ relentless offense and aggressive baserunning.
With the 13–2 win, the Golden Spikes Toreros 11U were crowned NCS Off The Wall champions — a reflection of the team’s growth, discipline, and togetherness. More than just a tournament victory, the performance showed how consistent training, experienced coaching, and a homegrown program create opportunities for young athletes to succeed on and off the field.
