Huskies 9U Dominate Hornets 9U in 8–0 Shutout To Take The NCS Memorial Day Tournament

The Golden Spikes Huskies 9U put together a complete performance on Monday afternoon, shutting out the Hornets 9U in an impressive 8–0 victory and claiming the tournament championship. From the first pitch, the Huskies set the tone with sharp hitting, disciplined defense, and relentless speed on the bases.

The offense struck early in the bottom of the first when Fionn F. singled to bring home a run, followed by a sacrifice fly from Quinton F. to make it 2–0. In the second, Isaac A. showcased aggressive instincts by stealing home, while a Hornets error added another run to extend the lead. The third inning saw the pressure mount on the Hornets, as the Huskies capitalized on defensive miscues and smart at-bats to push the score to 8–0.

On the mound, Fionn F. was in command, allowing just two hits across four innings while striking out six and walking one. Behind him, the Huskies’ defense played a flawless game, committing no errors. Isaac A. led the way with seven clean defensive chances, helping preserve the shutout.

The offense was balanced, with Fionn and Dax H. each collecting two hits. Quinton drove in two runs, and the team’s aggressiveness on the basepaths overwhelmed the Hornets. In total, the Huskies swiped 14 stolen bases, with Fionn, Dax, David T., and Isaac A. all recording multiple steals.

For the Hornets, Trent H. and Manuel B. each picked up a hit, while Kamden C. added two stolen bases, but the Huskies’ pressure proved too much to overcome.

Beyond the scoreline, this game highlighted the Huskies’ ability to play disciplined, team-first baseball. The combination of pitching, defense, and smart base running reflects the kind of growth young athletes achieve in a consistent and supportive training environment. Wins like this are a reminder that development on the field goes hand in hand with building confidence and teamwork off it — qualities Golden Spikes Baseball has focused on since 2010.
