Director of Pitching, Golden Spikes Baseball Academy
Top 50 National Prospect • Pitching Mechanics Expert • Arm Health Advocate
As the head of Golden Spikes’ pitching program, Alex Creel brings a rare blend of personal experience, technical expertise, and proven results. Once ranked the 49th-best high school prospect in the nation by Baseball America, Alex was among the most heavily recruited players in the Sacramento region. He earned All-League honors as a pitcher at Sac City College in 2002 and had multiple scholarship offers before arm injuries cut his playing career short—a setback that would ultimately fuel his deep commitment to coaching and pitcher development.
Determined to understand and teach the game at the highest level, Alex became a student of pitching mechanics and arm health. His journey led him to study under renowned pitching authority Ron Wolforth at The Ranch in Texas, a program known nationwide for its innovative approach to building velocity and protecting arms. Drawing from that foundation, Alex created a results-driven pitching system of his own—refining Wolforth’s principles into a dynamic program that emphasizes performance, precision, and longevity. With over 319 years of pitching instruction and development, Alex has helped pitchers of all ages increase velocity, sharpen command, and stay healthy—producing multiple 90+ MPH throwers, dozens of college scholarships, and four MLB Draft picks in the process.
Alex began coaching in 2006 at El Camino High School and joined Hard 90 Baseball Academy shortly after, where he worked alongside current Golden Spikes partner Bret Hemphill. Today, Alex is one of Northern California’s most respected voices in pitching development, trusted by players and parents alike for his thoughtful approach and long-term results.
