Mike Passifione is a Bay Area–Sacramento native who has dedicated his life to the game of baseball—as both a player and a coach. A standout left-handed pitcher at Oakmont High School and later Sierra College, Mike made his mark competing in one of Northern California’s most competitive baseball landscapes. His time on the mound not only sharpened his skills but also instilled the discipline, resilience, and leadership qualities that now define his coaching style.
After his playing days, Mike transitioned seamlessly into coaching, bringing his knowledge and passion to youth baseball programs throughout the region. Most recently, he served as a First Base Coach for the Maidu Major All-Stars, where his in-game instincts and ability to prepare athletes for pressure situations earned the respect of both players and fellow coaches. Known for his sharp eye and game awareness, Mike has developed a reputation for teaching athletes how to think the game—not just play it.
At Golden Spikes, Coach Mike focuses on base-running, first base fundamentals, and overall game IQ. He believes that great players are built not only through mechanics but also through confidence, decision-making, and mental toughness. His approach emphasizes teaching athletes how to anticipate plays, trust their instincts, and execute under pressure.
With his combination of local roots, collegiate playing experience, and proven coaching success, Coach Passifione is committed to guiding the next generation of Golden Spikes athletes both on and off the field.
